DEREK DUNNING:
Not too many changes this week. Middlebury's loss to Curry caused me to drop them a bit. Elmira's putrid performance in the Times-Argus opening round caused me to drop them down a bit. If they had lost to Neumann I probably would have dropped them out of the whole rankings.
Norwich had a strong weekend winning the Times-Argus with two one goal wins over Neumann and Gustavus Adolphus respectively. The Cadets have a big week ahead where they could make some serious inroads with a game against top-ranked Plattsburgh tomorrow night.
Although the Pointers are a modest 10-5 on the season, I thought it was time to rank Stevens Point with an impressive 4-2 win against St. Olaf. Four of Point's five losses have come to teams in the top 6 in my power rankings and pretty much every game was close. Stevens Point has a big showdown with Hamline next saturday where they can make a statement and cement theirselves in the rankings.
Nichols jumped into the rankings too this week. I realize they play in the ECAC Northeast but 13-1 is impressive in any conference. The Bison will have a chance to prove themselves on sunday when they host Manhattanville.
Still no Oswego for me. Although the two bounce back wins at the Pathfinder were nice to see. I still think this team has improvements to make to be a top 15 team again.
RYAN MALONEY:
Middlebury's loss to Curry drops them a spot in my ranking. St. Norbert stays behind them as they have three losses to Middlebury's one.
Elmira's loss dropped them down quite a bit, while Norwich's Times-Argus title vaulted them from the land of the unranked to #8. I wasn't sure what to think of the Cadets after their four-game winless slide, but they now appear to be a contender for a spot in the NCAA tournament.
Oswego's convincing victories over Skidmore and Ausburg lead them back into the top 15 over a St. Olaf team that lost to Stevens Point. I nearly placed the Pointers ahead of the Lakers, but Oswego's win over St. Norbert on the road - a team that WSP lost to - gives them the edge as both teams have five losses.
