Men's Hoop Season Ends in ECAC Semis

The Oswego State men's basketball team fell 72-71 at St. John Fisher Friday night in the semifinal round of the ECAC tournament. Senior Kyle Reuter (pictured) netted 30 points in his final game as a Laker, but a late missed free throw by classmate Tommy Downing allowed the Cardinals to advance to Saturday's final.

Oswego State had built a 10-point lead with 13:57 remaining in the second half, but St. John Fisher countered with a 15-2 run to earn their second lead of the period. The Lakers would tie the game with 1:14 remaining when Reuter converted a three-point play.

The Cardinals hit three free throws in their next two posessions to take a 72-69 lead before fouling Downing as he attempted a three-pointer with three-seconds remaining. Downing converted his first two attempts, then missed the third following a St. John Fisher timeout. Sophomore Jose Uribe pulled down the offensive rebound, but missed his putback attempt. The Lakers finish the season with a record of 16-11.
