Oswego State senior Derrick Smith fell 3-2 to top-seeded Austin Bautista in the quarterfinals of the NCAA wrestling championships Friday at the U.S. Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Smith had defeated NYU's Gregg Martino in the morning qualifier of the 141-pound division before falling to Whitewater's Bautista. Smith was making his third consecutive appearance at nationals for the Lakers.The former Mexico Tiger will square off with Cornell's Kevin Donahue in the quarterfinals of the consolation bracket tomorrow.
