Women's Hockey Drops Codfish Final; Williams Earns MVP

Emi Williams may have failed in her quest to bring the Lakers the Codfish Bowl trophy, but she'll ride back to Oswego with some hardware of her own. The sophomore goaltender was named Most Valuable Player of the second annual Codfish Bowl at the University of Massachusetts Boston tonight, but Trinity won the championship 2-0. The Beacons have come out on top in each of the Codfish Bowl's first two tournaments.

Williams made 33 stops tonight and improved her two-day goals against average to 1.50 while her save percentage totaled out to an even 96%. The only player who could beat her tonight was Beacons forward Alexa Guglielmi, whose even strength goals in the first and second accounted for the final score. Much like the Lakers (5-6-1), Williams' record now sits a game below .500 (3-4-0) on the year.

Laker forward Tiara Garrow was named to the all-tournament team after her two-goal output Friday night helped Oswego State reach the championship. Garrow, Williams, and the rest of the squad will return to the Campus Center Sunday afternoon for a 1 p.m. exhibition game against Rober Morris. The regular season resumes Jan. 16 as Sacred Heart travels to Oswego for a pair of games.
