Stanley Francois earned his third straight double-double as the Oswego State men's basketball team beat Cortland 67-57 tonight at Corey Gym. Francois ten rebounds tied him with freshman Chad Burridge for the team high on the night, and his 15 points made him one of three Lakers to reach double figures.
Seniors Tommy Downing and Kyle Reuter led all scorers with 17 points apiece to help Oswego State end a three-game slide. Downing connected on 5-of-8 from long range to help send the Red Dragons to their fourth straight loss.
Cortland held a six point edge over the Lakers at the half, but poor second half shooting ultimately led to their downfall. The Red Dragons hit just six of their 32 field goal attempts after the half and were outscored 36-20.
Oswego State's conference record improved to 2-1 with the win, while their overall mark now sits at 6-4. Cortland fell to 4-7 on the year, with a SUNYAC record of 1-3. The Lakers will return to action Tuesday when they host PLattsburgh,

I'm a sports reporter who most recently covered Syracuse University football for Clear Channel Syracuse (620 WHEN & 570 WSYR).
I attended SUNY Oswego where I majored in Broadcasting-
Mass Communications. I was also the Voice of the Lakers (VOTL) from 2007-2009 on 88.9 FM WNYO Oswego. It was during this time that I created this blog, then known as the WNYO Sports Blog. Upon leaving Oswego, I took the blog with me. I am a supporter of SU & Oswego State Athletics, as well as the New York Yankees, NY Giants, and NY Rangers. The VOTL.com is also simulcast on Bleacher Report.
