Sophomore Nicole Dean of the women’s swimming and diving team, senior Kyle Reuter of the men’s basketball team, and freshman Eric Selleck of the men’s ice hockey team were named SUNYAC Athletes of the Week for their respective sports as announced by the conference office on Monday, November 24.Dean (Lansing) won two events, establishing a new pool and school record in one, as the Lakers remained undefeated (6-0) in dual competition with a 163-117 win at The College at Brockport on December 21. Dean captured the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1:56.92, beating the old school record of 1:57.33, and was also victorious in the 500-yard freestyle in 5:17.37. She swam exhibition in the 200-yard individual medley, but posted the fastest time of all competitors for the event in 2:18.65.
Reuter (Mexico) reached the 1,000-career point mark and garnered tournament Most Valuable Player honors in leading Oswego (4-0), to a 3-0 week. He scored a game-high tying 22 points in a 104-67 mid-week win over Cazenovia College, becoming the 13th player in school history to score 1,000 career points. At the SUNY Old Westbury Panther Classic, Reuter averaged 22 points in two games, shooting 50-percent (14-for-28) from the field, and 53.3 percent (8-for-15) from the three-point line in helping Oswego to the team championship, scoring a game-high 30 points in a xx-xx win over Brooklyn College in the title game to garner MVP accolades.
