Own Goal Leads To Loss For Men's Soccer

The Oswego State men's soccer team fell to 0-2 on the season and finished fourth in the Flower City Classic after suffering a 1-0 defeat Sunday at the hands of St. John Fisher (1-1). The Cardinals scored midway through the first half when Oswego inadvertently kicked the ball into their own net on a clearing attempt. This marks the second consecutive season that the Lakers have finished in last place of Rochester's annual tournament.

Sophomore goaltender Eric Kukura was kept out of action after injuring his knee in Friday's loss to Rochester. Junior Nick Liberati started in his place and made three saves.

The Lakers return to action Sept. 6 when they host Nazareth (1-1) in the 2008 home opener at Laker Field. The Golden Flyers opened their season with a third-place finish at RIT's Doug May Classic, dropping a 1-0 overtime decision to #20 Hobart (2-0) before demolishing Gallaudet (0-2) 11-1. Fourth-year Laker coach Bob Friske is 0-3 against Nazareth in his tenure at Oswego.
