#6 RIT Blank Laker Women

The RIT women’s hockey team made it two in a row with a 7-0 win over SUNY Oswego on Sunday afternoon. Freshman forward Sarah Dagg led the sixth ranked Tigers with a two goals and an assist. Sandra Grant stopped all 17 shots she face for her first shut out as a Tiger.

Melissa Hall gave RIT a 1-0 lead at 6:21 of the first on assists from Amanda Klassen and Dayna Birch. Klassen fed Hall who wristed a shot past Erin Robson for her first goal of the season.

Dagg scored the first of her two goals at 15:53 of the first on an assist from Maegen Geypens. Geypens threw the puck in front and Dagg poked it home for her first collegiate goal.

Dagg tallied her second goal of the afternoon just 55 seconds into the second period on assists from Isabelle Richard and Geypens.

Keltie Jones scored her first goal as a Tiger at 13:02 of the second on assists from Shireen Irani and Kelley Prom, giving RIT a 4-0 lead.

Jerica Young, Isabelle Richard and Traci Galbraith each scored goals in the third period to help the Tigers pull away.

RIT held the advantage in shots, 36-17. The Tigers went 4-for-6 with the man advantage, while Oswego went 0-for-9.

The Oswego State women's ice hockey team lost 7-0 to sixth-ranked RIT on Sunday afternoon at Ritter Memorial Arena in Rochester.The Tigers scored twice in the first period and twice in the second period, with three of the four goals coming on the power play.

Gillian Toneguzzo and Jessica Lister led Oswego State in shots on goal, as each forced three saves from RIT's Sandra Grant, who earned the shutout with 16 saves.

Oswego State goalie Erin Robson made 29 saves, and the Lakers were 0-for-9 on the power play, while RIT converted four of seven power-play opportunities.

The Lakers are now 2-2-0 on the year and 0-2-0 in ECAC Women's West play. Oswego State hosts defending national-champions Plattsburgh on Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 3 p.m. at the Campus Center Ice Arena.
