Lakers Fall 8 Spots in USCHO Poll

The Oswego State men's ice hockey team dropped from the top spot in USCHO's latest division III poll. The Lakers are ranked #9, falling eight spots from the pre-season poll. Oswego State (1-2-1) came into the 2007-08 season with sole possession of the #1 ranking for the first time in program history. Last week's winless home-and-home series with Elmira and Friday's 4-2 loss to Plattsburgh have the defending national champions under .500 two weeks into the season.

2007 Pathfinder Bank Oswego Hockey Classic participant St. Norbert (2-1-0) also dropped in the poll. The Green Knights began the season at #2. Saturday's 4-2 home loss to the Gustavus Adolphus Golden Gusties dropped them to #7, yet earned them a vote for #1.

2006 NCAA runner-up Middlebury is the nation's new #1. The Panthers have yet to play this season.

Elmira (3-0-1) and Plattsburgh (5-0-0) both passed the Lakers in the poll. They rise to #8 and #5, respectively.

Oswego State returns to the ice Friday night at Geneseo. Tune into 88.9 FM WNYO for live play-by-play beginning at 7 p.m.
