Will Time Warner Customers Miss The 2010 BCS?
The 2010 Bowl Championship Series will begin at 5 p.m. today with the kickoff of the Rose Bowl on ABC. Unfortunately for Time Warner Cable subscribers, that may be the only game of the series that they'll be able to watch.
Fox channels are in jeopardy of being pulled from Time Warner's channel lineup if News Corporation, the owners of the Fox stations, do not reach a new broadcast agreement with the cable giant. News Corp. has stated that they want Time Warner to pay a subscription fee of one dollar per subscriber for their channels, which include Fox, FX, and the Speed Channel. The cable company has started that it is not willing to pay that much.
Originally, Fox was going to pull their signal from Time Warner at midnight if no deal had been reached. However, the two sides were able to come up with a temporary agreement to keep the stations on the cable service as the two sides continue to negotiate. Still, it has not been announced when that temporary agreement will expire, and Time Warner customers have no idea if they'll be able to watch the Sugar Bowl tonight.
