Williams' 50 Saves Not Enough For Women's Hockey

For the second game in as many nights, Oswego State kept the score close for two periods against fifth-ranked Rochester Institute of Technology, but once again a strong third period by the Tigers led to a substantial victory, this time by a score of 5-0.

RIT (8-1-1, 6-1-1 ECAC West) opened the scoring at 5:29 of the first period on a goal by sophomore forward Kylie Mazzetta. The period ended with the Lakers (4-5-1, 2-5-1 ECAC West) getting outshot 17-1.

The Tigers began to pull away in the third period on Mazzetta’s second goal of the night just 31 seconds in. The Lakers never had an answer, only testing RIT goaltender Amy Torgerson 11 times during the game.

Despite a 50-save effort by Oswego State goaltender Emi Williams, the Lakers couldn’t keep it close in the end, and Torgerson picked up a shutout victory.
