The Lakers pulled off their biggest win of the season by defeating the Elmira College Soaring Eagles, 6-4. There were six goals scored in the third period by both teams making for high octane entertainment for the fans in attendance.
The third and fourth lines for the Lakers stepped up in a big way picking up the dominant line of Ellis-McLaughlin-Whitehead, which put up seven points in the last two games. Senior forward Derrell Levy had one goal and an assist while linemate Mark Lozzi (pictured) netted two crucial goals and an assist in the dying minutes of the game. Lozzi's breakaway goal at 13:14 was the game winning goal for the Lakers. His shorthanded goal off a rebound at 15:34 was the capper on the evening putting the game out of reach. The Soaring Eagles didn't quit as Brendan Sanders scored at 16:41 bringning the game to it's final score of 6-4. But, the hole for the Soaring Eagles was to deep to dig out of as the Lakers prevailed.
The Lakers will look to continue their success next weekend when SUNYAC play returns. They will face the Fredonia State Blue Devils and a suprising Buffalo State Bengals team.
Note: Coach Ed Gosek picked up his 99th career victory tonight as well.
