The Lakers, for the first 58:30 of Saturday night's game, were frustrated by the Buffalo State penalty kill and defense. The Bengals got goals from Cory Park and Joe Curry to give them a two-goal lead going into the third. Laker goaltender Paul Beckwith played a great game in net only allowing two goals, and held out long enough for the Lakers to comeback. The Lakers came storming back late in the third after being shutout by Bengal goaltender Zach Grasley. Tyler Lyon ripped a slap shot top shelf past Grasley to cut the lead in half for the Lakers. The Lakers then got a timely power play goal from Ryan Ellis on a 6-on-4 advantage off a one-timer to knot the game up at 2-2 and force overtime.
The Bengals received a five minute major penalty giving the Lakers a man advantage with three minutes left in the overtime. At 1:30, Chris Laganiere tipped in a centering pass from Matt Whitehead for the game winning goal. The Lakers capped off the wild comeback in convincing fashion vaulting them to a 5-1-0 record.
