Women's Soccer: Laker comeback Bid Falls Short

The Oswego State Lakers fell just short of their bid to upset SUNYAC powerhouse Oneonta, losing 4-2 today at Laker Field.

The Red Dragons scored the first three goals of the game and led 3-0 with less than 20 minutes to play in the second half. Laker junior Tricia Sullivan found the back of the net in the 74th minute to cut the Red Dragon lead to 3-1. Sophomore Kelly Morritt then slashed the lead to one with her first collegiate goal at the 79 minute mark on a direct kick.

But that was as close as the Lakers would get as Oneonta's Brittney Reilly (pictured) scored with less than five minutes remaining to account for the final score. Oneonta improves to 4-2 (1-0) with the win while the Lakers have now lost three straight and sit at 2-3 (0-1).

  1. You have an error. Tricia's goal brought the score to 3-1. Then Kelly made it 3-2. Jeez.
