What exactly was a Super Sonic? It doesn't matter anymore as the Seattle based NBA team has relocated to Oklahoma City. Team Chairman Clay Bennett (pictured) made the announcement yesterday revealing the new name for the ball club. Introducing the Oklahoma City Thunder! This wasn't much of a secret however, media outlets in their new hometown had leaked the team name a month ago. If you were to make a stop on NBA.com's fan store, there already is a large collection of Thunder related clothing.
The new team name makes me think. What will their mascot be? A cartoonish rendition of Greek God Zeus? Or maybe something with a more relatable face, like Oswego's own Al Roker. What about where they play? With the Pistons having an arena with such an amazing name (The Palace at Auburn Hills) its up to OK Thunder executives to find an equally catchy moniker. I can hear it already, " Goodevening ladies and gentelman, I'm Marv Albert and welcome to The Thunderdome."
