Field Hockey in First; Men's Soccer Nips Naz

The Oswego State field hockey team (1-2) defeated New Paltz (0-2) by a score of 5-2 Saturday at Alumni Field in the 2008 SUNYAC opener. Today marked the Lakers' first win over the Hawks since Oct. 19, 2002. This also marks the second straight season in which Oswego State has won their conference opener to start the season in first place.

In other Saturday action, men's soccer (1-2) shut out Nazareth (1-2) 1-0. Junior midfielder Chris Carra scored the deciding goal in the first half and sophomore goalkeeper Marcus LaRobardiere earned the win in his first career start in net. The Lakers beat Nazareth for the first time since Oct. 6, 2004 and are now 4-9-2 all-time against the Golden Flyers.
