Syracuse became tinsel town on the corner of S. Jefferson and S. Salina last night at 6 p.m. to host the world premeire of "The Express". The movie that follows the life journey of SU legend Ernie Davis (who was the first African-American to win the Heisman Trophy) stars Dennis Quaid (who plays legendary coach Ben Schwartzwalder) and Rob Brown(who plays Ernie Davis). In addition to the acting talent were some of SU's Greatest Alumni, which included: Jim Brown, Art Monk, Floyd Little, Bob Costas, Mike Tirico and Don McPherson. Downtown Syracuse had the hussle and bustle of cities like New York City and L.A., and residents were beaming with joy and excitement.
Even though a light rain fell for a majority of the evening it didn't dampen the moods of those Syracusans who came out to see this once in a lifetime event. (Pictured is Dennis Quaid arriving at the Landmark, by Jared Crast) (Look for a full article next Friday in The Oswegonian)
