Crunch Win Again
The Syracuse Crunch beat the Albany River Rats 3-2 in overtime Friday for their seventh consecutive win. Crunch goalie Karl Goehring stopped 35 shots to earn the victory. The game ended on Brett Motherwell's one-timer from center point off a pass from Derick Brassard. Captain Zenon Konopka provided a screen on the edge of the crease to shield All-Star netminder Michael Leighton.
The victory moves the Crunch within 6 points of second-place Manitoba in the North division standings. Syracuse will likely play the Moose in the opening round of the 2008 Calder Cup playoffs. They have eight games remaining to try and pass Manitoba to earn home-ice advantage in the series.
