The Oswego State men's basketball team won 77-74 at Cortland on Saturday night in a matchup of two of the top teams in the SUNY Athletic Conference. Mahamoud Jabbi hit a 3-pointer with 1.8 seconds remaining for the Lakers, and it proved to be the game-winning shot as a half-court attempt at the buzzer by the host Red Dragons to tie the score was off the mark.
Oswego State ran its winning streak to six and is now 14-4 on the season. Cortland is 15-4 overall, and both teams are 8-2 in the SUNYAC. Tommy Downing led the Lakers with 27 points and made six 3-pointers for the second consecutive game. Jabbi added 23 points and 11 rebounds, and hit the game-winning shot at the end of the contest. Kyle Reuter scored 12 and Nick Perioli had 11 points for Oswego State.
The Lakers return home to Max Ziel Gymnasium next weekend, hosting Geneseo on Friday at 8 p.m. and Brockport on Saturday at 4 p.m.

I'm a sports reporter who most recently covered Syracuse University football for Clear Channel Syracuse (620 WHEN & 570 WSYR).
I attended SUNY Oswego where I majored in Broadcasting-
Mass Communications. I was also the Voice of the Lakers (VOTL) from 2007-2009 on 88.9 FM WNYO Oswego. It was during this time that I created this blog, then known as the WNYO Sports Blog. Upon leaving Oswego, I took the blog with me. I am a supporter of SU & Oswego State Athletics, as well as the New York Yankees, NY Giants, and NY Rangers. The VOTL.com is also simulcast on Bleacher Report.
