Hobart built its biggest lead of the first half to six points, with an 18-12 advantage, but Oswego State made back-to-back 3-pointers from Reuter and Ryan Schupp to tie the score. It was a part of a big run for the Lakers to close the half, turning that six-point deficit into a nine-point lead at the break.
The Oswego State lead grew to as much as 15 points, four minutes into the second half, but Hobart whittled away at the lead and scored 13 consecutive points to reduce the Oswego State lead to 54-52 with 12:30 remaining.
The Lakers answered with a run of their own, re-establishing a lead in double figures, and held on down the stretch for the win in the first game of the season.
Oswego State returns to action on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. when they host the College of St. Joseph (Vt.) at Max Ziel Gymnasium in the final game of the Max Ziel Classic.
