Jake Taylor Earns Honor

Oswego State senior wrestler Jake Taylor was named as the Empire Collegiate Wrestling Conference Co-Wrestler of the Week. Taylor is also ranked fifth nationally in the most recent BRUTE-adidas National Wrestling Coaches Association Division III Individual Rankings at heavyweight.

Taylor is off to a perfect 6-0 start on the season and has pinned all six of his opponents on the season. Most recently, Taylor pinned RIT's Adam Abdelhamed in 55 seconds on Saturday in a dual-meet, helping the Lakers defeat the nationally-ranked Tigers 35-11. The senior from Rochester began his season by winning the heavyweight bracket with five pins at the 25th Annual Bomber Invitational, hosted by Ithaca College.

Taylor shared the Wrestler of the Week honor with Trent Zempiel of Messiah, a 165-pounder who won tournament titles at the Messiah Invitational and King's Monarch Invitational.
