The Plattsburgh men's ice hockey team skated to a 3-3 tie with conference foe Potsdam Friday night at the Stafford Ice Arena in Plattsburgh, NY. By only securing a point in the SUNAYC standings, the Cardinals fell out of a tie for first-place with Oswego State. Plattsburgh had taken a 3-0 lead early in the third period on sophomore Vick Schleuter's second marker of the night. It was a short-handed goal that came just eight seconds after Cadinals forward Jared Docking had been whistled for goaltender interference.
Docking's penalty did eventually lead to a Potsdam goal however, as Todd Hosmer recorded his eighth tallyof the season to put the Bears on the scoreboard. Less than 90 seconds later, Colin MacLennan cut the Cardinals lead to 3-2 when he beat freshman goaltender Josh Leis.
Bears forward Fraser Smith lit the lamp with less than eight minutes remaining in regulation to tie the game at the eventual final score of 3-3. Potsdam goalie Trevor O'Neill stopped all four shots he saw in the sudden-death overtime to secure a point for the Bears.
